Players hit the ice for the Special Hockey Festival this weekend.

The group, Broome Includes, wrapped up its four day event with a chance for everyone to play. The group aims to make sure everyone feels welcomed to play, including those with disabilities.

Organizers are also hoping to raise awareness about the sport of sled hockey. Central New York's own team has been practicing for its first game of the year.

"They obviously have a bit more experience than our team,” said CNY Flyers Sled Hockey Coach Chuck Gridley. “But our guys love being out there, it was a good experience for them and they're skating every weekend, we practice once a week and they're getting better and better. Today was their first opportunity to go out there and try it in a game."

15 teams hit the ice for the weekend's festivities.
