Chilly temperatures make most people want to hibernate indoors. But aspiring hockey players welcome the cold.

The Binghamton Pond Festival is helping kids "try hockey."

Kids of all ages are hitting the ice at Chenango Valley State Park this weekend. The only requirement is to bring a good attitude.

USA Hockey's trailers provide everything you could need to play the game.

"It's awesome getting to use the Try Hockey trailers because hockey's a sport that a lot of people don't have access to on a regular basis,” said Libbie Haller, who organized the event. “It's a sport that if you didn't grow up in a rink yourself, you're probably not going to ever get the chance to. So giving people the chance to do it is awesome."

Friday marked the start of all the ice hockey fun at the state park. This weekend there will be 4-on-4 youth games.
