Broome County is looking to help the village of Windsor with its consolidated EMS services.

Windsor Mayor Ron Harding applied for the $40,000 grant to help the Eastern Broome Emergency Services department. The funding would come from the county's Small Community Grant.

Most of the money will go toward a cardiac monitor that links to a nearby hospital. Eastern Broome Emergency Services was formed in March, partially consolidating the Deposit fire department's first aid and rescue team and Windsor emergency services.

“The funding from this small community grant will be a huge asset for our agency as we're starting out now obviously trying to build up our funds and our revenue. This grant will help buy this cardiac monitor which costs approximately $36,000 so it would be a huge burden on our taxpayers or our patients," said Christopher Zacharias, Eastern Broome Emergency Services President

The application will be voted on as a resolution at the next legislative meeting later this month.
