It didn't take long for prosecutors to convict an Elmira man of murder.

After opening statements on Monday, a jury handed up a guilty verdict by Tuesday afternoon.

Willie Jenkins was involved in the stabbing death of Albert Sturgis.

He prevented people from helping Sturgis after Demetrius Mack allegedly stabbed him at an Elmira bar.

Defense attorneys tried to claim that Jenkins was preventing the situation from escalating to a gun fight. But, Sturgis bled out and died without help.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on August 26th. Mack's trial is scheduled for August 13th.
