ELMIRA, N.Y. — Artists of all ages spent the weekend drawing with chalk for the annual Street Painting Festival in Elmira.

Some even traveled from as far as Florida to participate.

Thousands of visitors witnessed painters in action — drawing portraits, celebrities, movie scenes and more.

One artist decided to sketch her son picking plants, and it was one design that caught the eyes of many.

She's happy that all of the artwork brings people to the area.

"My favorite part is having the community come out. The artists are very much appreciated," said Brandi Moffe, a street painter. “You don't realize how many local artists we have until the street painting festival, and it gets bigger every year."

The festival began 11 years ago.
