Authorities in Binghamton have arrested a man for allegedly trying to kill his girlfriend.
Officers were called to a home on Chapin Street around 7:40 Tuesday night.
Investigators say a man slashed his girlfriend's neck and throat area several times after a verbal argument between the two quickly escalated.
The woman was able to escape and call for help.
Shannon Callahan, 45, was taken into custody. He's been charged with second-degree attempted murder and aggravated criminal contempt.
The victim was treated for injuries not considered to be life-threatening.
