The trash collection company that had not been picking up its customers' garbage is officially out of business.

Spectrum News was the first to tell you Thursday that Feher was discontinuing operations.

Ninety employees, including office staff and drivers are out of jobs.

The company handled trash pickups for the towns of Cicero and Salina in Onondaga County, and many other municipalities outside of the county.

Cicero's town supervisor Mark Venesky was notified of the closure Thursday, and immediately began the search for alternate options.

"The town was only notified of this at 2 p.m. Thursday and we are aggressively working with the county and other vendors to pursue a prompt solution to this unfortunate situation. As it stands today, there will be no trash pickup next week until further notice. We ask your patience as we work diligently to find a workable solution and we will notify you as soon as we have resolved this urgent issue."

Vanesky said he is still actively pursuing a contract to get the trash picked up, but nothing is set at this point.

As for Salina, they have secured Superior Waste to provide trash service next week.
