The Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce unveiled its 2018 agenda Monday. Organizers say there are three major challenges moving forward: workforce development, taxes and regulations.

The group wants to advocate for small business tax relief and repealing costly mandates. And developers hope to create programs that prepare people for jobs, especially children. That will eventually help people will stay in the region.

"Historically, it's been very strong in manufacturing and all kinds of businesses," said Terry Wood, the Willow Run Foods president & CEO. "It's the crossroads of the Northeast, and there's a lot of advantages to living here, but we have to make it easier and more lucrative for people to live here."

Organizers say New York State has the heaviest tax burden for businesses in the country.
