WISCONSIN -- A Wisconsin man has been accused of killing his landlord.

Detectives say Jason Tilley admitted to shooting his landlord in the back of the head

Tilley, 37, is charged in connection with the murder.

“We never thought Jason would do that. You know someone loses a temper, maybe you want to smack them or something but to kill him, you know,” said Sharon Cebula, a tenant.

According to a criminal complaint, the victim's wife reported him missing March 1.

The next day, officers went to the apartment building and discovered the landlord dead in a garage. Tilley was arrested the next day.

Investigators say he got upset after paying his rent and being told it was being increased by $30.

Prosecutors say Tilley shot his landlord in the back of the head before hiding the body and stealing cash and his car keys.

Police have yet to identify the landlord.

Cebula says she'll never forget his genuine kindness and dedication to the people in his buildings.

"He took care of this place," she said. "I mean all you had to do was call ... bam, he was there."

Tilley told police that hours after the shooting he had some beers and a couple of shots, went home and then got up the next morning and went to work.
