SPECTRUM NEWS VIDEO: After years of sitting vacant, a Broome County agency is excited to start the redevelopment process of the former BAE facility.

The Broome County Industrial Development Agency is seeking proposals from consultants to perform studies on the town of Union site.

The goal is to determine the best use for the property, to further enhance the region's revitalization initiative.

The Air Force completed demolition last year, after the nearly 27-acre land was destroyed by flooding in 2011.

The agency says this is a critical economic development site for the area.

"The need to put some new life in there is incredibly important to those municipalities and to the county as well, certainly," said Stacey Duncan, the Agency Community and Economic Development deputy director.

Proposals are due back to the Agency by Monday, February 26.
