Some Southern Tier drug treatment organizations will be seeing an increase in funding for their programs.
Close to $400,000 in state funds will be used for drug prevention and counseling at some local schools and addiction centers.
The funding includes $175,000 for Lourdes Youth Services and $95,000 for CASA-Trinity, both for prevention counseling in schools.
Also, $70,000 will go to Chenango County Behavioral Health for a prevention and education curriculum for students ages 11-13. Addiction Center of Broome County will receive $25,000 for a kitchen expansion, security upgrades and ambulatory detox.
The programs will mainly focus on fighting the heroin and opioid crisis.
