BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Binghamton's 4th District will now be represented by 19-year-old Democrat and Binghamton University student Conrad Taylor.

Taylor defeated former council member John Cordisco by earning 55 percent of the votes.

He says his main focus will be bringing more jobs into the community by encouraging more of his fellow students to stay in the area. In a speech, he credited his win to those students, and said he looks forward to immediately making a difference in the city of Binghamton.

"I'm proud of the fact that downtown and on the north side the students came together to elect a new voice, someone on city council who really cares about making a difference in our communities," Taylor said.

Taylor will take over for Councilwoman Lea Webb who has reached her term limit.
