In a commencement speech Sunday, General Electric CEO Jeffrey Immelt shared his advice for a bright future with the Siena class of 2015.

His appearance comes just after General Electric released the results of an economic impact study regarding the company's presence in the Capital Region, which showed $1 out of every $7 generated in Schenectady County are because of GE.

The company said they've had an overall impact of around $4 billion in the region.

Immelt said the Capital Region provides the right setting for GE to continue its progress as a company.

"You know, the nature of work is transition, we do high-tech infrastructure products, so what you need is a really good high-quality workforce," Immelt said. "The fact is I think we've been able to drive a pretty productive workforce here.

GE has been in Schenectady for more than a century.
