Two state lawmakers are pushing to increase the minimum SNAP benefit in New York state. It currently sits at $23 dollars per month and Syracuse-area state Sen. Rachel May and Queens Assemblymember Jessica González-Rojas want it raised to $100 per month. Also, while a deal on a new 421a tax abatement is looking remote thanks to an impasse between several of the construction trade unions and the real estate lobby, state Senate Republicans are proposing their own package of housing bills, including a new 421a idea.
