Lawmakers say a thorough review of New York's protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic is about accountability, not pointing fingers. The state is still awaiting a final report on what the state did right and wrong to respond to the pandemic. Officials agree an independent review is needed to prepare for the next public health threat. Also, with the clock ticking for the state to reach its ambitious climate goals in the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, the chair of the Senate Environmental Conservation committee, Pete Harckham, is out with a new proposal to help encourage New Yorkers to switch to solar energy.
