Unsanitary living conditions has a NYCHA tenant overflowing with frustration. She turned to NY1 for You for help. Our Susan Jhun has the story.

Keeping a watchful eye over her sink has become tenant Casaundra Rosier’s routine for nearly a week at the Cypress Hills Houses.

"You can smell rotten sewage," she said. "And it has hair, roaches, mouse droppings, strings from the broom, from the mop. You name it, it’s in there.

Rosier says in the last week, backed-up water constantly comes up through the drain of her kitchen sink.

"I’ve been having a problem with my kitchen sink overflowing for four days. And I called housing time and time again. They give me the run-around," Rosier added.

The tenant says she has rheumatoid arthritis, which makes it difficult for her to keep the sink dry. Family members help by dumping the water from her kitchen and depositing it outside.

"It keeps refilling. As soon as I dump the water and I come back, it’s filling up again," said Rosier.

NY1 contacted NYCHA, and after looking into the situation, the problem was fixed.

A spokeswoman released the following statement to us: "The pipe has been cleared and the problem is resolved. We deeply apologize for this inconvenience.”

Now, Rosier can finally get back to her normal routine.

"I feel great, fabulous, because I was tired of dunking water all day long, 24 hours a day. With you guys' help, I was able to get my sink back," she said.
