From ORDA:
Whiteface Mountain’s third peak is open. The Olympic mountain staff announced today that the Wilmington Trail opened Friday.
Located off of Lookout Mountain and the triple chair, the 2.1-mile long Wilmington Trail is the northeast’s longest intermediate run. Skiers and riders can expect pristine corduroy from the junction of the Wilmington Trail and Lookout Below to the base and untouched powder on the top half of the run.
This Sunday, Feb. 5, ski and ride the Wilmington Trail and other trails for half-price. Everyone who shows their registration for the SKI-A-THON Fundraiser, www.mscando.org/SKIforMS, receives 50% off a one-day lift ticket.
SKI for MS (formerly Vertical Express) is a community fundraising event, bringing people together at nine mountains, to include Whiteface Mountain, from around the country for a day-long ski event. All proceeds benefit Can Do MS, a national nonprofit organization delivering educational health and wellness programs for families with MS. Programs focus on exercise, nutrition, symptom management, and the motivation to thrive in life.
This winter re-discover Whiteface Mountain, home to the greatest vertical and to the very best ski experience in the east. Whiteface offers more of everything including more snowmaking and more terrain for all abilities of skiing and riding.
Ranked number-two in the eastern United States by readers of SKI Magazine, the Olympic mountain has the longest trails, the steepest of moguls, and some of the best glades, chutes and slides found anywhere in the east. And because it boasts the highest elevation of any ski resort in the northeast, you’re more likely to find great snow on its more than 15 miles of trails.
Don’t forget that this Saturday, the resort’s terrain park crew is hosting a free High Ollie Contest on the Brookside trail just outside the Cloudspin Bar & Grill. The highest Ollie for snowboard and skis wins bragging rights and a plate of Cloudspin hot wings
Put this weekend all together and you’ll discover that Whiteface has everything skiers and riders look for: great conditions, great variety, personal service and great fun for the whole family.
