I'm not going to lie. I took an online course in college one semester. I didn't and probably still don't have the self-control and attention span to do it. It took me about 5 minutes before I was opening a new window for ESPN or (yup, I'll date myself here) AOL Instant Messenger.

I don't even remember how I did on that course. Must have done okay though, I got a degree.

But for many, the act of traveling to class or living on campus just isn't an option. Many students are older or have children. Traditional students, especially at a community college like Jefferson, just don't dominate the landscape like they used to.

Jefferson Community College (JCC) has added its Accounting Certificate program to the list of academic programs available entirely online!

Consisting of 32 college credits, the Accounting Certificate program offers a concentration in accounting theory courses combined with basic core courses that may be applied towards JCC’s accounting or business degree program at a later date. The Accounting Certificate program can generally be completed in one year with full-time study. Upon successful completion, students may find employment in accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll departments of business firms as well as bookkeepers, accounting or auditing clerks.

In addition to the Accounting Certificate program, JCC also offers degree programs in Liberal Arts Humanities and Social Sciences, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, and Individual Studies completely online.

Spring 2017 semester classes start January 23, 2017. Registration for spring semester opens on October 31, 2016. Students interested in JCC’s Accounting Certificate program should contact the Admissions Office, (315) 786-2277, to start the application process. Applying to JCC is free.
