Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro was travelling back from Richmond, Virginia from a family vacation stopped to pay his respects to the lives lost, and to stand with Charlottesville and against the violence.

"The Nazi protests that occurred really showed the worst in humanity. It is something we have to condemn. As Americans we need to put everything aside and disavow it. It is really an assault on all the values we believe in,” said Molinaro.

When asked about the president's reaction to the attack -- Molinaro said President Trump didn't go far enough.

"You have to call hate for what this is.  These people don't represent America. This is something we won't embrace in this country,” he said.

Governor Andrew Cuomo has launched an online petition for President Trump to more clearly condemn and denounce white supremacists.
