Saratoga's Peerless Pool has been a favorite summer splash spot for decades. Sunday marked another beautiful day to take a dip.

"We've been here seven years now, and we've come every summer, multiple times," said Glens Falls resident Bill Beyer.

"The kids love the slide when we come here. When our youngest one came, he wasn't tall enough yet to ride the slide so we had to keep coming after he got tall enough," said Saratoga resident Jim Kanaley.

After 50 years of use, the aging facility is shutting down for renovations. The facelift will create more green space near the pools. Also in the works — new seating, a revamped entrance plaza and three covered shelters.

"They're going to be doing all the renovations that I mentioned to my husband that I thought maybe they needed to do, cause it looked like it was a little bit older," said Ballston Spa resident Charlotte Hanley.

The $2.9 million project is expected to be completed by next summer. It is being funded by the governor's NY Parks 2020 initiative aimed at rejuvenating the state park system.
