You can call it a labor of love for two of the NYPD's newest captains.
Lieutenants Luis Barcia and Alexandra Sarubbi-Barcia made NYPD history Friday as the first married couple to be promoted at the same time.
The pair fell in love after they joined the police force in 2002.
They were both promoted to sergeants and lieutenants in the past but never during the same ceremony.
"We know that both policing and marriage require a high level of commitment. There's is nothing like a little healthy competition at home. So I can't wait to see who gets promoted to DI first," said Police Commissioner James O'Neill. "Luis, I don't know you, but I know Alex."
The two were among 71 officers promoted Friday.
Thirty-five civilian NYPD workers were given a rise in rank as well.
