BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- A Sweden mom is helping spread kindness and positivity around town through rocks!

Kristi Passalacqua is the woman behind "Brockport Rocks," a grassroots effort to decorate or paint messages onto rocks and hide them within the village of Brockport.

She got the idea from neighbor Stacie Shurina, who was part of a similar group in Virginia.

Passalacqua created a Facebook group, painted rocks with her three children, and hid them around the village.

"Brockport Rocks" now has about 300 members, all through word of mouth.

"It is theraputic and I think the kids are enjoying it," Shurina said. "There's exercise involved when you're out hunting rocks, you're not sitting at home."

"Get them off their devices, get them out and about," Passalacqua said.

"It's fun and when you paint it, you just bring happiness to your life and anybody that you hide it for," said Juliana Passalacqua, Brockport ROCKS.

For those who find a painted rock, they're asked to post a photo of it to the "Brockport Rocks" Facebook page and then keep the rock or re-hide it.

The group suggests using non-toxic acrylic paints and sealing them with craft glue.
