CANASTOTA, N.Y. -- Some town of Lincoln officials are hoping to learn more about a county project before it moves forward.
Several residents came out and expressed concerns over the Madison County Organic Materials Recovery Center Project at a Lincoln Planning Board meeting Tuesday.
Project leaders are looking to build a digester at the Agriculture and Renewable Energy Business Park.
It turns bio-solids into fertilizer.
Some believe it would bring revenue and new job opportunities to the area. But others have concerns about the project, including the environmental impacts.
Town leaders passed two resolutions Tuesday, and are hoping to learn more information about the project.
"We have a resolution to have the town of Lincoln as the lead agency in the process," said Lincoln Planning Board Chairman Ed Mills.
"We are very happy that the Planning Board ended up saying that they want to take the lead of this, and they made those resolutions because this is exactly what we need. We need to have somebody on our side," said Lincoln resident Jody Sadler.
The other resolution requests the Madison County Board of Supervisors to stop actions intended to plan and facilitate the construction and operation of the project.
