NEW YORK - Former FBI director James Comey's testimony Thursday was like a sporting event of sorts, with several bars around the city and around the country hosting watch parties.

SideBAR in Union Square opened its doors at 9:30 a.m. for the occasion.

They showed Comey's testimony on TVs, and also served up brunch and some drinks.

QED in Astoria and South 4th Bar and Cafe also hosted their own parties.

UnionBar in Washington said it would offer a free round of drinks anytime the president tweeted during the hearing.

Although he didn't, the bar gave everyone the drinks anyway.
