SAN ANTONIO - A humanitarian group called Compassion International is in San Antonio raising awareness about childhood poverty with an interactive exhibit.

Five years ago the group launched the mobile Compassion Experience to teach children across the U.S. about the realities of living in destitution.

Visitors hear stories told by children about their daily lives and see items that once belonged to those same children.

"We hope they leave with a more compassioned heart for others in this world and that's the main thing. It's not what we can do for ourselves; it's what we can do for others," said Keith Arrington of Compassion International.

The Compassion Experience will be at the University United Methodist Church on DeZavala through Sunday.  It's free and open to the public.
