WORLDWIDE — Smartphones have been linked to a number of health problems including a new one, revealed by a team of doctors at the Mayo Clinic.
They report an increase in cases of what they call "smartphone thumb,” a result of constant texting and messaging on our phones.
While it has a funny name, it is actually code for tendonitis, when the tendon that bends the thumb becomes inflamed — and more and more people are complaining about it.
To prevent problems, doctors recommend giving your thumb a break. Use different fingers to send a message or use voice command.
You can also do some stretching exercises with your fingers and wrists to keep the tendons limber.
