CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. -- A man was airlifted to the hospital after a shooting outside a bar in Canandaigua Saturday night.
Canandaigua City Police were called to the Villager Pub just after 11:30 p.m. for the report of shots fired.
Once on scene they found a man they say had been shot twice, once in the upper body and once to the leg.
He was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight. Police say he's expected to survive.
Witnesses tell us an event was taking place at the bar. It's unclear whether the victim was attending.
We spoke with a few people who were in and around the area at the time of the shooting.
"All I know is that this Chevy Caprice pulls up and a black SUV pulls up next to it and I heard like 6 gunshots... and I was ducking between both of those cars as the SUV was pulling out onto Main Street. If it wasn't for those two cars, I woulda been toast," said Robert Blackburn, bystander.
"I was handling the money. I was sitting down and I saw him all bloody, like all the blood on the floor. I was kinda devastated like did this really happen? I never experienced this a day in my life," said Jackie Harris, employee.
Police stopped a vehicle appearing to match the description of the suspect vehicle a few blocks away just after the shooting.
They say they are speaking with several people of interest from that vehicle in regards to the shooting.
The Canandaigua City Police Department is asking anyone who attended the event, or anyone who was in the area of the parking lot during the time of the shooting, to call (585) 394-3311 or (585) 394-4560.
The investigation is on-going.
