Colgate University has released a report looking into the incident on May 1, where people believed a gunman may have been on campus.

The situation ended after it was discovered an art student was carrying a glue gun.

Their review found that Colgate campus safety acted within protocols to engage with law enforcement about the reports of an armed person. But the report also found significant problems with emergency management and communications with campus and staff.

At one point, an alert claimed there was an active shooter situation at the student center. The report also says the university must do a better job supporting an inclusive environment, because bias may have played a role in the incident.

The day after the incident, Black Lives Matter protests were held on campus. Demonstrators believed that racial profiling played a role in the university's response.

The report says that the university should further review emergency protocols. It also recommends diversity training for Colgate employees.
