FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia police are looking for information after a shooting in the village during the biggest party weekend of the year.
Officers say a woman was shot at three or four times as she sat in her car as she was getting ready to leave a party on Center Street.
The woman was not hurt, though one of the bullets hit the windshield of her car.
We spoke with some SUNY Fredonia fraternity brothers who were picking up trash along Center Street after the end-of-semester celebrations known as Fred Fest.
They say the early Sunday shooting is disturbing, and casts a dark cloud on an already contentious time of year.
"I've never heard of anything like this happening in Fredonia, at least since I've been here," said Tommy Lancie, a sophomore. "If it was a shooting that was brought upon by Fred Fest, that would show that it's starting to escalate, that things are just going beyond having a good time in the streets and that it actually could get serious. That's not okay."
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Fredonia Police at 716-679-1531.
