NORTH CAROLINA -- Two young North Carolina women have died after a wrong way wreck in Phoenix.
Authorities say one of the women and the driver who hit them were students at Grand Canyon University.
Karli, 20 and Kelsey Richardson, 18, grew up in Mooresville and their parents says the two were spending some time together before Kari graduated from Grand Canyon University later this month.
Arizona authorities say Keaton Allison, 21, who hit them was going in the wrong direction on Interstate 17 at a high speed early Friday morning. Officials say they’ll do tests to determine if he was under the influence.
But even through all this pain and sadness, the sisters' mother said she knows they're not the only family grieving.
“We're angry, shouldn't we be angry but you lost a son and we feel your pain too and we pray for you because we all lost children,” said Cathryn Hocking, the sisters’ mother.
The family said they'll have a visitation for Karli and Kelsey on Friday, April 21 and their funeral on Saturday, April 22 at The Cove Church located at 197 Langtree Road in Mooresville.
