The Stars of Texas past present and future all play in role in the Texas Films Awards.

This year that includes honoring one of the most Oscar laden films in Texas history and a lifetime achievement award for its leading lady, Shirley Maclaine.

"Texas has been very instrumental in my creative life," said Maclaine.

Filmmaker Richard Linklater presented Maclaine as the newest Texas Film Hall of Fame inductee.

She also accepted the Star of Texas Award honoring Terms of Endearment.

The Houston-made drama won five Oscars in 1984 and made memories that still impress fellow honorees.

Tye Sheridan received the Rising Star Award.

He began acting with Texas filmmakers such as Jeff Nichols who was also honored.

Sheridan starred as Cyclops in the last X-Men movie and he just finished shooting "Ready Player One" with Steven Spielberg.

"I think that's why I am where I am in my career today because I work with some of the most incredible people -- so I've learned from the best," he said.

Former San Antonio Mayor Henry Cisneros added to celebration of diversity.

He presented Hector Galan with an award for his outstanding work documenting and advancing Chicano culture and over multiple films.

"Hector has an extraordinary ability to tell a human story," said Cisneros.
