An 80-year-old Schenectady man has been arrested for allegedly having child pornography on his computer.
Colonie police say they received a tip that Thomas Urbano may be distributing child porn online, and searched his home Friday, taking his computer and storage device.
Urbano is charged with promoting and possessing sexual performances by a child.
"This case is a little unusual: this is actually the oldest defendant we've ever been in contact with, who was involved in child pornography. He was not on anyone's radar, never been arrested before, he's retired; he didn't have a job that involved children. So this is a little unusual,” said Colonie Police Department Lieutenant Robert Winn.
Police do not think Urbano ever had contact with the underage victims, nor do they believe the victims are local.
