SAN ANTONIO — Every year, the Alamo staff helps people relive the Siege of the Alamo for 13 days.

Living history interpreters and historians are helping people remember the Alamo with nearly 2 weeks of events and dramatizations showing just what happened in San Antonio 181 years ago.

"It was a local, national and even global event. We all Remember the Alamo, even today. And that's the importance of celebrating, is what these defenders died for on this site. We do it because we honor them. We still think that their sacrifice means something,” said Ian Oldaker.

The commemoration period began Thursday with an interactive Siege Read.

Demonstrations will continue through March 6.
