ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The owner of a popular Syracuse waffle joint says he hopes to open one of his unique restaurants in Rochester by late spring or early summer.

Adam Gold, co-owner of Funk 'n Waffles, tells us the restaurant will open in the old Water Street Music Hall.

Crews will make some changes inside for the new restaurant, which focuses on live music and specialized waffles.

It will be open seven days a week with live music daily, serving up food from what Gold describes as a "funky menu.'"

"We have a very ecclectic mix of colorful walls and artwork," Gold said. "It's a hybrid of a music venue and a restaurant. So, it kind of has a funky look, but it's also great for seeing a great event."

Gold says he's looking forward to opening the Rochester Funk 'n Waffles after recently closing one of its two locations in Syracuse.

The property owners there decided to build an apartment house at the location.
