ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- A traveling basketball team and international life-saving group partnered up Monday night.
The Harlem Globetrotters visited the Blue Cross Arena to help the Red Cross raise money for families at risk for disasters.
It's all part of a two year partnership program called the "Great Assist."
Organizers say the event allows average citizens to support a cause that's important to them.
"The Harlem Globetrotters really really are committed to helping organizations like the Red Cross and that's what we're all about," said Patty Corvaia, Red Cross Communications Manager. "We're about organizations and everyday citizens coming out and helping us because without them we can't fulfill our live-saving missions. It's all about us coming together and helping out others in need."
The Red Cross responds to a disaster an average four times a day in the Western New York region.
