BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A group of Canisius College students will talk with state lawmakers in Albany Tuesday about the need for more tuition assistance programs, so students can attend private colleges.
It's a response to Gov. Cuomo's proposal to make public colleges tuition free for families making less than $125,000.
"Part of what makes education powerful is when you get people of different backgrounds together in a room talking about ideas," said Jeffrey Spencer, Student Government Association Vice President for Business and Finance. Programs like Tuition Assistance allows students of different backgrounds to attend a school like Canisius and as a student that's something that I see as vitally important."
School representatives say most students need tuition assistance to attend Canisius.
