NORTH CAROLINA -- Five Kmart stores across the state will close later this year.

On Wednesday, Sears Holding announced that it will close 26 Sears and 78 Kmart stores nationwide. That's on top of nearly four dozen stores that closed late last year.

North Carolina Kmart stores slated to close are in Wilmington, Concord, Fayetteville, Goldsboro and Madison.

One Wilmington shopper says he is sad to see it go.

"I've been coming here since I was a kid. You know, my parents used to bring me here, buy toys. You know, just as long as I can remember, this was the store you went to," said Ian Cross, lifelong Wilmington resident.

No Sears stores in North Carolina will be affected.
