A preliminary hearing is postponed until Jan. 30 for four former Los Angeles County social workers charged with child abuse and falsifying records stemming from the death of an 8-year-old Palmdale boy.
The LA County District Attorney's Office says former clinical social workers, Patricia Clement and Stefanie Rodriguez, falsified reports that should have documented signs of Gabriel Fernandez's abuse.
They also claim supervisors Gregory Merritt and Kevin Bom should have known they were approving false reports.
The boy's mother, Pearl Fernandez, and her then-boyfriend, Isauro Aguirre, are awaiting trial on a capital murder charge.
