Austin's Zoning and Platting Commission approved the Austin Oaks redevelopment this week.

Property owners want to replace the existing office park with a hotel, restaurants, shops and apartments.

There would still be a considerable amount of office space in the new project.

Neighbors designed the new Austin Oaks last year.

A tenth of the 250 apartments will be affordable for families making less than $45,000 a year.

Most of the apartments will be studios and one bedrooms due to neighborhood concerns about crowded schools.
