GEORGETOWN, Texas -- A yearly tradition once again lights up the streets of downtown Georgetown.
The city's "Light the Square" brings the community together, illuminating a town's rich history.
The tradition attracts those from out of town, giving long distance relatives an opportunity to reunite.
"This is balmy great weather to be here,” said Gary Hill, a tourist from New Jersey. “My mom didn't have to drag us out here. But, we, come down her, taste a little wine, come to the tree lighting ceremony... yeah, it's a great time."
The event takes place every year the day after Thanksgiving.
Family and friends sang along to Christmas carols.
Others enjoyed checking the holiday lights around the square.
More than 40 oak trees are wrapped in lights, illuminating the downtown square.
The event runs through the end of the year.
