DELMAR, N.Y. -- Bethlehem police say speed was a factor in the crash that killed 20-year-old Thomas Brown in Delmar early Saturday morning.
Bethlehem police say the one-car crash happened on the northbound side of Bender Lane near Stonewall Lane just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
Emergency crews were able to extricate Brown, the only person in the vehicle.
Police closed Bender Lane for a time while they investigated.
"As the fog is lifted we have seen more marks on the roadway and we kind of waited for daylight to actually commence the investigation into the accident reconstruction and tracing his whereabouts before the crash and what took place precedeing it is what is obviously the utmost important to us," said Commander Adam Hornick, Town of Bethlehem Police Department.
Brown was taken to Albany Med where he was pronounced dead.
