Some Queens dancers are getting ready head to the biggest parade of the Holiday Season.  NY1's Shannan Ferry has that story from Fresh Meadows.

From their school in Queens, to the streets of Manhattan.

Some dancers are preparing to perform in front of millions at the 90th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

"It's a once in a lifetime opportunity, it's something we'll remember for the rest of our lives," said Ashley Caturano.

"I never thought that I would actually be a part of something so huge," said Gianna Perzan.

They're all students at St. Francis Prep High School.

Performing Arts Instructor Donna Mejia submitted an audition video last year.

The dancers will put Queens on the map nationally when they hit the stage in costumes next week, performing alongside hundreds of other dancers who made the cut, too.

"You're part of a whole ensemble that has professional performers, as well as high school performers who are having a great new experience," said Mejia.

Part of that experience will be rehearsing for five days straight at the Hilton hotel with the ensemble until the dance is perfect.

"What I usually tell the girls is you really have to look for that facial expression, enjoy yourselves when you're dancing, precision is very important, and detail to your gestures, and really speaking to the audience through your dance movement," Mejia added.

Dancers said one of the most exciting parts of the experience is that this is first St. Francis Prep has been invited to perform in the parade.

"So to finally actually have something to do with it is really great," said Samantha Levine.

"I always wanted to be that dancer, so knowing that I'm going to dance in that is just amazing," said Gianna Taranto.

An amazing opportunity the girls said they're truly thankful for this holiday season.

Look for the dancers along the parade route on November 24th.
