SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. -- A teen has been charged with murder after a drive-by shooting in Southern Pines that left a 12-year-old girl dead and a toddler injured.

Police say 16-year-old Montice McManus was arrested on Sunday. He is being held in the Guilford County Jail.

McManus is also charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Twenty-year-old Malik Crawford is also behind bars in connection with the shooting. He’s been charged with accessory after the fact and is being held on a $300,000 bond.

Police say Jalinda Campbell and Kyleigh Graham were on a porch in the 700 block of West Michigan Avenue on Friday afternoon when someone pulled up and opened fire.

Campbell died at the hospital. At last report, Graham remained in the hospital.

Neighbors and family members say they are devastated by the tragegy.

"The most frustrating thing about it is they're babies. They didn't deserve this thing. That's the main thing about it," said Jean Collins, a relative of the victims.

Police don't believe the shooting was a random act of violence.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call (910) 692-7031.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family with funeral arrangements.
