NORTH CAROLINA -- A Buncombe County woman's plan to teach her husband a lesson about the lottery backfired after winning a million dollars.

57-year-old Glenda Blackwell's husband, Buddy, asked her to buy two powerball tickets this weekend.

She said she wanted to make a point that the tickets were a waste of money.

Glenda bought a $10 scratch off ticket instead, which was a million dollar winner.

Blackwell opted for the lump sum of $415,000 after taxes.

The couple says after this, they won't be buying as many lottery tickets in the future.
