HIGH POINT -- The Sears Operations Center at the Oak Hollow Mall will close February 2017.

Sears Holdings Corporation made the announcement Tuesday to employees at the location. Employees were sent home early and a sign was taped to the front door letting people know the building will reopen Wednesday at 7:30 a.m.

The company did not say how many employees are affected by this closure.

Sears Holdings Corporation released this statement:

“We announced today that our Sears Services Contract Support call center in High Point, N.C. will close in late February 2017. The work performed at the location will be transitioned to other Sears facilities between now and the anticipated closure date.  The closure of this location is part of our strategy to optimize our call center operations to align with our forecasted call volumes. The number of associates is not available. Associates who are eligible will receive severance and have the opportunity to apply for open positions in the company.”

High Point University owns all of the mall except Dillards.

The school released this statement:

"There is no immediate plan for the property, and the mall continues to operate as a retail establishment."

This anticipated closure will add to the number of businesses that have left the mall over the years.
