ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Camp Good Days and Special Times held a press conference this morning to announce an upcoming sporting event with a special theme.
The Teddi Bowl will take place next month between Aquinas and Victor. The two teams will compete at the bowl for the next two years.
The Section V power house football teams will be playing on behalf of other kids in their own backyards.
Modeled after the Courage Bowl, both teams will have two honorary coaches and one honorary cheerleader impacted by cancer attending practice and on the sidelines during the game.
"Our players love being involved," said Gary Mervis, Camp Good Days and Special Times founder. "It's their favorite game of the year. All year long they call and ask when are the kids coming. They look forward to it. Some of them will continue to call the office."
The event is named after Teddi, the daughter of Mervis, who had brain cancer.
The camp has grown over the years serving more than 46-thousand campers touched by cancer.
