PAWLING, N.Y. -- People in and around the town of Pawling know of Daryl’s House, a restaurant owned by Hall & Oates lead singer Daryl Hall. His restaurant attracts lots of people and bands who want to perform in front of them.

“It brings great exposure to the town of Pawling,” said Everett White, Pawling Fire Department chief.

That community staple caught fire around 4 a.m. Monday. White said the fire is not suspicious.

“We believe that the fire was electrical in nature. It started in some of the lighting and wiring in the front of the building,” he said.

White said no one was inside when the fire broke out and no firefighters were hurt. He said the bulk of the fire was put out in about 30 minutes.

“When we arrived we had a significant fire in the front of the building contained to that area and the roof, due to a quick response, quick knockdown we kept the fire from spreading into the main part of the building,” said White.

In a statement on Facebook Daryl Hall said the restaurant is expected to be up and running this week.

It’s something customers said they want to see happen.

"It's been an important music venue for a long time, prior to being Daryl’s place it was The Town Crier,” said John Befus. “Since Daryl Hall came in and reopened it and redid it, it’s been a real nice place and get's a lot of good attendance."
