POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- A town of Poughkeepsie apartment building housing elderly and disabled residents hasn't had a working elevator in more than a week.

Lakeview Arms has had no elevator service since July 20.

Residents we spoke with said many are unable to leave their apartments because they are not able to walk up and down the stairs.

Homecare workers and delivery personnel said the outage is making it difficult to help their clients.

Officials we spoke with at the town building inspector's office said they are working with management to restore service, but they're not sure when the elevator will be fixed.

We reached out to building management but they declined to comment.
