An Amsterdam man has been sentenced for killing three people in a crash in Duanesburg last September

Joseph Duffy was sentenced to 6 to 18 years in prison, on charges of vehicular manslaughter.

Duffy was under the influence of alcohol and amphetamine when he was driving erratically on Route 30 in Duanesburg, eventually crashing into a car head on.

Vanessa Cohn, her Daughter Summer Penny, and Betty Brockhum -- the people in the other car -- were all killed.

The assistant district attorney says Duffy never grasped the seriousness of his crime.

Summer was a ninth grader at Duanesburg high school.
