LOWVILLE, N.Y. -- The Kraft-Heinz Plant in Lowville plans to eliminate 19 positions, but those employees will have the chance to stay with the factory.

Last year, the company announced it would expand and add more than 100 new jobs over the next five years. As part of the plant's expansion, its distribution services will be taken over by another company, DHL.

Michael Mullen, a Kraft-Heinz representative, says this will allow the plant to focus more on the products they make. Once again, Mullen says those employees aren't necessarily out of a job.

He said, "Each of the 19 affected employees will have an opportunity to fill open positions elsewhere in the factory or to elect a severance package. As always, we remain committed to treating our people with the utmost respect and dignity."
